"I've been intimate with too many women; my sexual past is too dark for God to forgive."
How it sounds in your head: College hookups, porn addiction, that affair—I've used women, been used, done things I'm ashamed to even remember. How can God forgive THAT? My body count disqualifies me. I'm damaged goods.
"Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
-- Isaiah 1:18Source: Religious purity culture that makes virginity an idol and sexual sin the 'special' category God can't handle.
Sexual sin feels uniquely shameful because it's physical and memorable, and culture (especially church culture) has treated it as the ultimate disqualifier. The memories replay and religion says you're permanently stained.
Rahab was a PROFESSIONAL prostitute in Jericho—her entire identity was sexual sin for money. God not only saved her instantly when she believed, but put her in the MESSIANIC LINE—she's listed in Jesus' genealogy, honored forever in Matthew 1.
I REFUSE the lie that my sexual past disqualifies me from God's full blessing. IT IS WRITTEN that though my sins are scarlet, they are NOW white as snow. Jesus took the crimson and gave me white robes. Rahab was a prostitute and made it into Jesus' bloodline. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation for me in Christ. I am Abraham's seed, blessed with the BARAK covenant that covers failures. The enemy wants me stuck in shame. I am CLEAN, PURE IN CHRIST, my past ERASED, and my Father celebrates me as His son.
Your Father watched the prodigal blow his inheritance on prostitutes and STILL ran to him, robe ready. He's not keeping a scorecard of your partners—He's keeping a robe with your name on it, and He's been watching for your return.
