"I've been alone so long, I wouldn't even know how to be married now."
How it sounds in your head: You've had your routines for years, maybe decades. Your space, your schedule, your way of doing things. The thought of compromising, sharing space, adjusting to someone else feels overwhelming, maybe even impossible.
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."
-- Ezekiel 36:26Enemy lie that independence has calcified into permanent isolation, that you've missed the window for adaptation.
Neural pathways are set, habits ingrained. Change at 70+ feels harder than at 30. You wonder if you're too set in your ways to make room for another person.
Old priest, set in temple routines for decades, wife barren and elderly. God announced a son coming—Zacharias couldn't believe it, was struck mute. God did it anyway, transforming their entire life overnight at advanced age.
I REFUSE the lie that my patterns are permanent prisons. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me a NEW heart and new spirit. I am a NEW creation in Christ—old things PASSED AWAY. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 43:19 that He does a NEW thing NOW. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in me, and He makes all things new regardless of my age. Father is already preparing my heart for partnership, softening what needs softening, strengthening what needs strengthening. I am TEACHABLE, FLEXIBLE, and READY because His grace is sufficient.
Father isn't asking you to white-knuckle change—He's doing the transforming Himself, gently, supernaturally. Even while you doubt your flexibility, His Spirit is already at work making you ready for the love story He's writing.
