"I've been a burden since birth, draining resources and energy, never worth the cost of keeping me."
How it sounds in your head: You're in your fifties, maybe dealing with health issues that require money and time, watching your aging parents or supporting adult children, and you feel it again—that old familiar weight of being TOO MUCH. Too expensive, too needy, too complicated. You've spent 50 years trying to cost less, need less, be less, believing that your existence is a net LOSS to everyone around you.
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special treasure, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
-- 1 Peter 2:9Capitalist lie that human value equals economic productivity, weaponized by the enemy to make you measure your worth by what you COST instead of who you ARE in Christ.
You've cost money—medical bills, food, clothes, college, maybe ongoing needs. You can calculate it, tally it up, prove mathematically that you've been a drain. In a world that measures worth by ROI, you feel like a bad investment.
Blind beggar for years, contributing nothing economically, dependent on others for survival, considered a burden by society, told to be QUIET when he cried out to Jesus. Jesus STOPPED, CALLED him, and INSTANTLY gave him sight—the 'burden' became a WITNESS, and his first act with new eyes was to FOLLOW Jesus, proving the 'unproductive' one had MORE purpose than the productive crowd.
I REFUSE the lie that I am a burden or that my worth is measured by what I cost. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a CHOSEN generation, a royal priesthood, His own SPECIAL TREASURE. I am not a drain; I am a TREASURE. My value is not calculated by economic productivity but declared by the BLOOD OF JESUS. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 43:4 that I am PRECIOUS in God's sight and HONORED, and He loves me. I stand in the BARAK blessing—the Lord commands blessing on my storehouses, I lend and do not borrow, blessed above only. I am not a burden; I am a TREASURE the King paid EVERYTHING to possess.
The Father doesn't keep a ledger of what you've cost—He keeps a THRONE with your name on it because you're ROYALTY, His special treasure. While you've been tallying expenses and apologizing for existing, He's been running toward you with the robe and ring, celebrating that His TREASURE is home, declaring you WORTH the blood of His Son.
