"It's selfish to want more at my age when others have so much less"
How it sounds in your head: You're in your sixties thinking about breakthrough and increase while people are starving. Wanting financial blessing or better health feels greedy and self-centered. Mature Christians should be content and focused on giving, not receiving.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers"
-- 3 John 1:2Source: False humility and religious poverty mindset that calls God's abundance 'selfish' and limitation 'spiritual maturity'
You see global suffering and feel guilty for wanting more. Church teaching praised 'simple living' and sacrifice, making desire for God's promises seem unspiritual. You don't want to appear greedy or entitled in your latter years.
Scripture says Abraham was 'very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold' - and God called it blessing, not selfishness. His wealth enabled him to rescue Lot, bless nations, and fund God's covenant purposes. God made him wealthy FIRST, then used that wealth for kingdom impact - prosperity enabled generosity.
I REFUSE the lie that wanting God's abundance is selfish. IT IS WRITTEN: God's desire is that I prosper in ALL THINGS and be in health - prosperity isn't selfish, it's His WILL. IT IS WRITTEN: The BARAK blessing says I will lend to many nations - I can't fund kingdom purposes from poverty. Abraham was very rich and God called it BLESSING. The widow got oil until ALL her vessels were FULL - overflow, not just enough. My increase doesn't diminish anyone - God's supply is LIMITLESS. He blesses me to OVERFLOW so I can bless others from abundance, not strain from lack.
The Father isn't measuring your desire for His promises against others' poverty and calling you greedy - He's preparing blessing that overflows to others THROUGH you. He wants to make you so abundantly supplied that your generosity funds miracles for others, because blessed people bless people and broke people can only break even.
