"I'm too weak and dependent to have meaningful connection. I'm just a burden now."
How it sounds in your head: I can't even go to the bathroom by myself anymore. People have to feed me, bathe me, change me. How can there be real relationship when everything is one-directional? I used to serve and give—now I just take. No one wants to connect with someone who can only receive. I'm an obligation, not a friend.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.'"
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Religious lie that equates worth with productivity and independence, hiding the gospel truth that we are ALWAYS fully dependent and fully loved.
Every physical interaction requires help. She cannot reciprocate invitations, cannot serve meals, cannot even control her own bodily functions. The caregiving relationship feels inherently unequal. Independence was her identity for decades.
Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet, completely dependent, unable to reciprocate any kindness. King David brought him to eat at his table CONTINUALLY like one of the king's sons—not because of what he could do, but because of covenant love. His disability didn't disqualify intimacy.
I REFUSE the lie that dependence disqualifies me from meaningful connection. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made PERFECT in my weakness. I have always been a branch—I never produced fruit by my own strength, not at 20, not now. The Vine does the work; I simply abide. My worth has never been in what I DO but in WHOSE I am. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed and highly favored, the blessed of Abraham, and the BARAK doesn't require my independence. I am LOVED in full dependency because that's the only relationship God ever offered—Him strong, me held. I am not a burden. I am BELOVED.
The Father isn't measuring your ability to serve Him—He's delighting in your willingness to LET Him serve you. Jesus washed feet. He RECEIVES your dependence as worship. You're not taking—you're teaching everyone around you what pure grace looks like.
