"I'm too set in my ways to merge lives with someone now"
How it sounds in your head: You've lived alone for years, maybe decades. Your routines are sacred—coffee at 6am, certain TV shows, specific side of the bed, your thermostat setting. You think: 'I can't compromise anymore. I'm too old to adapt. What man wants a stubborn woman?'
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up."
-- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10Enemy twisting independence into isolation, suggesting self-protection over supernatural partnership
You've built a life that works, and the idea of disrupting it feels exhausting. You've watched friends fight over trivial things and think: 'I can't do that battle anymore.'
At 100 years old, Abraham became a father to Isaac, completely changing his lifestyle, routines, and priorities. God brought new life when Abraham was far past 'set in his ways.'
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too set in my ways for love. IT IS WRITTEN that two are better than one. I am not rigid—I am ESTABLISHED in God's goodness with room for His surprises. IT IS WRITTEN in Genesis 21 that Abraham at 100 received Isaac, completely reordering his life with joy. God brings partnership that ENHANCES my peace, not disrupts it. I am flexible in the Spirit, ready for the companion who multiplies my joy. My best years are NOW.
Father isn't asking you to become someone else—He's preparing someone who loves exactly who you've become. Your routines aren't obstacles; they're the rhythm into which He'll bring beautiful harmony.
