"I'm too old to make new close friends; that only happens when you're young."
How it sounds in your head: You see younger guys bonding easily and think that window closed for you. The deep friendships form in college, in your twenties, maybe early thirties. But mid-forties? Everyone's established, busy with families, set in their groups. You feel like you missed the friendship formation years and now you're stuck with surface-level acquaintances at best.
"Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
-- Isaiah 43:19World's lie that life operates in closed windows of opportunity, denying God's 'new thing' power at any age.
Your closest friends were made years ago, and attempts to forge new ones feel forced compared to those organic early connections. You watch younger men form bands, start businesses together, go on trips, and it feels like a season you're past.
Abraham was SEVENTY-FIVE when God called him to leave everything familiar and start over in a new land. He formed a deep bond with his nephew Lot in his senior years, traveling together, building wealth together, until even their combined success required separation—proving deep connection isn't about age, it's about ASSIGNMENT, and God assigns connection at ANY stage.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too old for deep friendship. IT IS WRITTEN: 'I will do a NEW thing, NOW it shall spring forth'—and NOW means my forties are PRIME for divine connections, not past them. God makes roads in wildernesses, and my current relational landscape is about to become a HIGHWAY of covenant friendships. IT IS WRITTEN: He restores the years, so every 'missed opportunity' is being redeemed RIGHT NOW. The BARAK blessing doesn't expire with age—Abraham formed world-changing relationships at SEVENTY-FIVE. I declare: the deepest, strongest, most life-giving friendships of my life are FORMING NOW because the Father's timing is perfect and His supply is unlimited.
The Father isn't sad about your age—He's been PREPARING you through every season for the friendships He's releasing now that you're finally ready to steward them. Like Abraham who found his greatest adventures and deepest bonds after 75, your best relational years aren't behind you; they're unfolding RIGHT NOW in the Father's perfect timing.
