"I'm too old and broken for God to use me now."
How it sounds in your head: Your ministry years are over. You can't travel, can't preach, can't serve like you used to. God uses young people with energy and vision. You're in the waiting room for heaven—just don't be a burden until you die.
"They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."
-- Psalm 92:14World system that equates usefulness with physical ability and youthfulness, opposing God's pattern of using the aged for greatest impact.
His body doesn't cooperate. He can't drive at night. He forgets names mid-sentence. The pastor asked younger men to serve as elders. His energy for 'doing' is gone, and he equates rest with irrelevance.
At 85 years old, after wandering 40 years in the wilderness, Caleb said 'I am as strong today as I was at 40—give me this mountain where the giants live!' God gave him instant victory over the enemies younger men feared. His greatest conquest came in his final years.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too old or broken for God to use. IT IS WRITTEN that I shall STILL bear fruit in old age, fresh and flourishing. Moses was 80 at his burning bush. Caleb took mountains at 85. Anna the prophetess was 84 when she prophesied over baby Jesus. I am IN CHRIST, and the same Spirit that raised Him from the dead lives in me. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 12:9 - 'My strength is made perfect in weakness.' The BARAK blessing doesn't retire—I am blessed coming in and going out until my final breath. God is preparing divine appointments, words that will mark generations, intercessions that will shake heaven. I am a FLOURISHING tree in my 80s, and my greatest fruit is FORMING NOW.
The Father is grinning as He watches younger men try to do in their strength what He's about to do through your weakness. Your frailty is the perfect stage for His power—He's been waiting for you to stop striving so He can show off. Your final years will be your most fruitful because they'll be ALL Him.
