"I'm too needy and clingy. I push people away by wanting too much connection."
How it sounds in your head: You text too much. Care too much. Want to hang out too often. People pull back because you're suffocating. Neediness is repulsive. Keep your distance or you'll lose them faster.
"Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!"
-- Psalm 34:8Shame from the enemy rebranding your God-given desire for community as a character flaw.
You've felt the shift when you reached out one too many times. Seen someone's response time stretch from minutes to days. Been told directly or indirectly that you're 'a lot.' The rejection is real.
John was called 'the disciple whom Jesus loved'—he literally LEANED ON JESUS' CHEST at the Last Supper. Maximum closeness. Jesus didn't push him away for being 'too much'—He let John be the closest. Neediness welcomed.
I REFUSE the lie that my desire for deep connection is a defect. IT IS WRITTEN that God invites me to taste and see His goodness—He WANTS me close. My capacity for intimacy is a reflection of His design, not a dysfunction to fix. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus drew the beloved disciple to His chest—closeness is celebrated, not condemned. I am NOT too much for the people God is sending. I'm EXACTLY the depth they've been praying for.
Your Father is running toward you with arms wide open, not crossed. He's not asking you to need Him less—He's about to surround you with people who love you at full volume, who don't flinch when you show up fully alive.
