"I'm too much for people—too intense, too emotional, too needy, too broken."
How it sounds in your head: You've seen it happen: you open up about what you're actually feeling or dealing with, and people get that look. The 'wow, that's heavy' look. The slow fade starts. You've learned to bottle it because every time you're real, you're too much.
"You number my wanderings; put my tears in Your bottle; are they not in Your book?"
-- Psalm 56:8Enemy volume-lie convincing you that the fullness of who you are is a burden instead of a gift.
People have literally told you you're too much or handled you like you're fragile or exhausting. You've watched relationships end because you weren't light and easy enough.
She crashed a dinner party, sobbing, letting down her hair in public (scandalous), kissing Jesus' feet—completely 'too much' for everyone there. Jesus defended her intensity and said her LOVE was great. Her 'too much' was actually 'just right.'
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too much. IT IS WRITTEN that God collects my tears in His bottle—He treasures every emotion, every intensity, every part people call 'too much.' I am NOT required to shrink or tone down to be acceptable. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made—the fullness of who I am is INTENTIONAL design, not accidental overflow. Jesus defended the woman who was 'too much' for the dinner party because HER LOVE WAS GREAT. I don't need to minimize myself; I need to find people who can handle the fullness God created.
Your Father isn't asking you to be less so He can handle you. He's collecting every tear, celebrating every emotion, and defending your intensity to anyone who suggests you should shrink. The prodigal could have been 'too much'—but the Father was MORE.
