"I'm too broken to be used by God—I need years of therapy first."
How it sounds in your head: Look at you—still triggered by your dad's voice, still struggling with that addiction, still can't get your marriage right. How could God use someone this fractured? Maybe in five years, after you've done the inner work, after you've healed. But not now. Not like this.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Source: Modern therapeutic culture that makes wholeness a prerequisite for usefulness, combined with religious performance standards.
You're in your mid-forties and STILL dealing with issues you thought you'd have conquered by now. The evidence is in your calendar—therapy appointments, support groups, marriage counseling. Surely God waits for people to get their act together before deploying them.
Angel called Gideon 'mighty warrior' while he was hiding in a winepress, terrified, from the weakest clan, the least in his family—traumatized, insecure, faithless. God didn't say 'get therapy first'—He said 'Go in THIS your strength' and Gideon delivered Israel THAT WEEK, broken as he was.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to be whole before I can be used. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made PERFECT in my weakness—not after I fix it, but IN it right now. My brokenness is not a disqualification; it's a DEMONSTRATION site for His power. The Father isn't waiting for me to graduate from therapy—He's calling me a mighty warrior while I'm still in the winepress. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ Jesus. I am loved, called, and deployed exactly as I am today.
The Father sees you in your brokenness and calls you MIGHTY WARRIOR, not in five years after you're fixed, but TODAY, in the winepress. He's not waiting for your wholeness—He's releasing His power through your weakness right now, and the world will know it was Him, not you.
