"I'm not anointed, gifted, or called like other men—I'm just ordinary."
How it sounds in your head: You've never had that special thing—the charisma, the talent, the spiritual gift that makes someone significant. You're just a regular guy who's never been exceptional at anything. God uses extraordinary men, and you're not one of them.
"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are."
-- 1 Corinthians 1:27-28Source: World and religion that celebrates spectacular gifts while despising ordinary faithfulness, and the enemy who compares you to others.
You've watched other men lead, preach, build, influence—men who seem to have a calling written in neon lights. You've spent your life in the background, never the guy people look to, never the one with the obvious anointing.
Gideon was hiding in a winepress, threshing wheat in fear, from the weakest clan in Manasseh, the least in his family—utterly ordinary and afraid. The angel called him 'mighty warrior,' and Gideon argued, 'How can I save Israel? I'm the LEAST.' God said, 'I will be with you.' That was enough—ordinary Gideon defeated entire armies.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too ordinary or lack special anointing. IT IS WRITTEN that God chooses the foolish, weak, and despised to shame the mighty. I am not disqualified by being ordinary—I am CHOSEN. IT IS WRITTEN that I am anointed by the Holy One, and I have an anointing from the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead LIVES IN ME. I don't need spectacular gifts—I have the SPECTACULAR GOD living inside me. I am called, chosen, anointed, and equipped not by my abilities but by HIS SPIRIT. I am a son of God, a king, a priest—nothing ordinary about my identity IN CHRIST.
The Father isn't overlooking you because you're ordinary—He's running toward you BECAUSE you're ordinary, eager to display His extraordinary power through common clay. Like the prodigal who had no résumé, no credentials, no proof of worthiness but was given the ROBE and RING of full authority anyway, your Father doesn't wait for you to become extraordinary—He calls you CHOSEN right now, just as you are.
