"I'm jealous of other guys' friend groups and feel pathetic for even caring"
How it sounds in your head: You see Instagram posts of guys on golf trips and feel fifteen years old again. You scroll past the group chats and bachelor parties and feel like everyone got the memo except you. Then you shame yourself for caring about something so juvenile.
"For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly."
-- Psalm 84:11Enemy: Comparison narrative plus shame for having legitimate needs
You can name three guys at work who have standing tee times with their crew. Your brother-in-law has a fantasy football league that's been going fifteen years. You're watching friendship from the outside like high school all over again.
Elisha desperately wanted what Elijah had with God—asked for DOUBLE portion with holy jealousy. God didn't shame the desire—He GRANTED it INSTANTLY. Elisha got double the miracles and became father to a company of prophets, instant community.
I REFUSE the lie that my desire for friendship is weakness. IT IS WRITTEN that no good thing will be withheld from me, and brotherhood is GOOD. My longing isn't pathetic—it's PROPHETIC. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 37:4 that God gives me the desires of my heart. The BARAK blessing promises COMMUNITY, not isolation. What I'm jealous of is what I'm HEADED TOWARD. The Father isn't mocking my desire—He's AWAKENING it because He's about to FULFILL it. I am not outside looking in—I am POSITIONED for divine connection.
The Father put that jealousy in your chest as a COMPASS pointing toward what He's already preparing—He's not shaming you for wanting it, He's stirring you to RECEIVE it. Your awareness of the lack is the first stage of the FILLING.
