"I'm disqualified from leadership because I'm not naturally confident or charismatic."
How it sounds in your head: Real leaders are bold and magnetic. You're awkward and quiet. God uses the impressive ones, not guys who stumble over their words. Leadership requires a personality you don't have.
"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty."
-- 1 Corinthians 1:27World's definition of leadership based on personality, contradicting God's pattern of choosing the unlikely.
Every 'youth leader' type seems naturally confident while he feels invisible. Social hierarchies at school reinforce that leaders look a certain way, and he doesn't fit the mold.
Gideon was hiding in a winepress, threshing wheat in fear, calling himself the least in his family. The angel called him a 'mighty man of valor' and God used him to lead an army with just 300 men to defeat thousands.
I REFUSE the lie that leadership requires natural charisma. IT IS WRITTEN that God chooses the foolish things to shame the wise and the weak things to shame the mighty. Gideon was hiding when God called him a mighty warrior. Moses couldn't speak well yet led millions. Paul said he came in weakness and fear, yet turned the world upside down. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is perfected in my weakness. My awkwardness is the perfect canvas for His glory. The BARAK blessing doesn't require confidence—Abraham doubted, Isaac feared, Jacob deceived, all still blessed. I don't lead from personality but from position as His son. God's anointing on my life has nothing to do with my natural abilities. I am a leader because He says so.
The Father isn't looking for impressive resumes or magnetic personalities. He's looking for available hearts, and yours qualifies perfectly just as it is.
