"I'm being punished for past career mistakes or bad decisions."
How it sounds in your head: If I hadn't left that stable job five years ago, I wouldn't be here. God is letting me suffer the consequences of my choices. This is what I deserve.
"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."

She can trace a direct line from a decision she regrets to her current unemployment, and it feels like God is saying 'I told you so.' The suffering feels proportional to her perceived failure.
Ran from God's call, got swallowed by a fish, was vomited onto a beach. God's response? 'Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah a SECOND TIME'—instant recommission, no probation, no lecture. Same assignment, fresh start.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm being punished for past decisions. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are new EVERY MORNING, and this morning I get fresh mercy regardless of last year's choices. I am under the BARAK blessing that protected JACOB THE DECEIVER who STOLE a blessing through lies—it certainly covers my career missteps. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ Jesus, and that includes no condemnation for job changes I regret. The Father is RUNNING toward me with the second-chance assignment like Jonah got, no shame required.
The Father isn't keeping score of your career mistakes—He's preparing the SECOND CHANCE that's even better than the first opportunity. Like Jonah, you get recommissioned without probation, because His mercies are new THIS MORNING, not after you've suffered enough.
