"I'm a financial burden and disappointment to everyone who supported me."
How it sounds in your head: Parents helped with seed money. Friends invested believing in me. Maybe a mentor vouched for me. Now I'm the reason they lost money. I've become a weight, not a blessing.
"The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Enemy redefining identity from SON to BURDEN based on one financial outcome.
The money is GONE—tangible, countable loss. He can calculate what parents gave, what friends risked, what was lost. Numbers don't lie, and the number is painful.
The prodigal DEMANDED his inheritance early (disrespectful), LOST IT ALL on prostitutes (immoral), came home BROKE and smelling like pigs (disgusting). The father didn't calculate the loss—he RAN to him, threw a party that COST MORE money, and declared 'My son was DEAD and is ALIVE.' Identity: son. Not burden.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a burden. IT IS WRITTEN: the Father takes great DELIGHT in me and rejoices over me with SINGING—not when I pay Him back, but NOW. The prodigal lost his father's money on prostitutes and got a PARTY, not a payment plan. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing—not failure, not debt, not loss—separates me from God's love. I am not defined by what I lost—I'm defined as the son the Father RUNS toward. My identity is BELOVED, not burden, and that will never change based on a bank account.
The Father doesn't see a disappointment costing Him money—He sees a son He'd pay ANY PRICE to restore. The prodigal cost the father TWICE—once with the lost inheritance, again with the expensive party—and the father counted it ALL JOY.
