"If people knew how empty I am inside, they'd see I'm a fraud."
How it sounds in your head: You stand in front of the youth group and lead worship or teach the younger girls, but inside you're hollow. You're pretending. If they knew you cried yourself to sleep or doubted God last week, they'd know you're a fake. Real leaders don't struggle like this.
"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us."
-- 2 Corinthians 4:7Religious mask-wearing—the expectation that leaders must be perfect to be used.
Everyone at church shares 'victories' but never struggles. You've learned that honesty equals weakness. The youth pastor's Instagram is all highlight reels. You believe transparency would disqualify you from ministry.
God called Gideon a 'mighty warrior' while he was hiding in a winepress, terrified, from the weakest clan, the least in his family. Gideon argued with God about his inadequacy, yet God used him IMMEDIATELY to deliver Israel—no training, no proving himself, just 'Go in this might of yours.'
I REFUSE the lie that my emptiness disqualifies me. IT IS WRITTEN that we carry treasure in CLAY POTS specifically so the power is obviously God's, not ours. My weakness is not my disqualification—it's my invitation to watch Him show up. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made PERFECT in my weakness. I don't minister FROM my fullness; I minister FROM His. I am a BRANCH—I don't produce fruit by being perfect; I produce fruit by ABIDING. Under the BARAK blessing, I am chosen and called not because I have it all together but because HE does. My honesty is not failure; it's faith.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to fill yourself up before He uses you. He's the One who called Gideon 'mighty warrior' while he was HIDING, who used Peter after he DENIED Him three times, who wrote most of the New Testament through Paul who called himself the CHIEF of sinners. He's running toward your emptiness with His FULLNESS.
