"If I truly understood how bad my sin was, I couldn't forgive myself"
How it sounds in your head: You're only able to move on because you're minimizing what you did. If you really grasped the weight of it, you'd never get over it. Forgiving yourself means you don't get it. Deep people carry deep shame.
"You, being dead in your trespasses... He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us... He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religious teaching that maximizes sin awareness while minimizing blood power, creating perpetual introspection instead of finished work celebration.
He's been taught that understanding sin's seriousness requires proportional grief, so releasing shame feels like theological shallowness.
This man was a violent criminal being EXECUTED for his crimes—he fully understood how bad his sin was because he was DYING for it. Yet Jesus gave him PARADISE in one sentence with zero process, zero penance, zero time to "truly grasp" what he'd done.
I REFUSE the lie that understanding sin's depth requires carrying perpetual shame. IT IS WRITTEN that God WIPED OUT the handwriting against me and NAILED it to the cross—the worse my sin, the greater the display of His grace. Paul was CHIEF of sinners yet called himself MOST graced—depth of sin only magnifies depth of blood power. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 5:20 where sin abounded, GRACE ABOUNDED MUCH MORE. I am SEED OF ABRAHAM under BARAK blessing where the worst sinners stayed protected by covenant. My sin's weight only proves His grace's strength.
Your Father didn't send Jesus to the cross for small sins only—He sent Him for the WORST of humanity, and the thief on the cross proved that the deepest sin meets the deepest grace in ONE MOMENT. The greater your understanding of sin's weight, the greater your worship of grace's power should be.
