"If I rely on medication or therapy, I'm not really trusting God with my healing."
How it sounds in your head: Every time I take my medication, I feel guilty, like I'm hedging my bets instead of fully trusting. People post verses about 'trusting in the Lord with all your heart' and I wonder if using medicine means I'm trusting doctors more than God. Am I supposed to just pray and believe, or is getting help okay? I'm so confused.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
-- Proverbs 3:5-6False dichotomy between divine provision and natural means, positioning medical help as competing with God rather than coming from Him.
Scripture about trusting God is applied incorrectly to mean refusing practical help, creating either/or framework. She genuinely wants to trust God fully and fears that accepting human help negates that trust.
Naaman wanted dramatic healing but God told him to do something simple and natural—wash in the Jordan seven times. He initially refused because it seemed too ordinary, not spiritual enough. When he obeyed the 'natural' instruction, THEN supernatural healing came—showing God often works through ordinary means.
I REFUSE the lie that medicine competes with trusting God. IT IS WRITTEN to acknowledge Him in ALL my ways—including treatment. Taking medication IS trusting God because He's the one who led me to it. My trust isn't in pills; it's in the Father who provides through EVERY means. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 4:19 that He supplies ALL my needs—sometimes through prayer, sometimes through prescriptions, often through BOTH. The BARAK blessing means I'm blessed in EVERY avenue of healing God opens, and I walk through all of them with confidence.
Your Father doesn't see medication as your backup plan when prayer 'doesn't work.' He sees it as one hand of His provision, with prayer as the other. He's not offended when you take your medication any more than He's offended when you eat the food He provides. Both are gifts from His generous hand.
