"If I keep waiting, I'll die before my family sees God come through for me."
How it sounds in your head: I've told my family for years that God would do this. If I die waiting, they'll think God failed. My death without breakthrough will damage their faith. I need to see this fulfilled so they know God is real, or I've failed them as a spiritual leader.
"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth... And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us."
-- Hebrews 11:13, 39-40Religion + Enemy—the lie that God's faithfulness is proven by visible results in your lifetime and that your family's faith depends on your breakthrough.
Years of declaring God's promises to family while nothing happens feels like setting them up for disappointment. Death without breakthrough looks like proof that God doesn't deliver, making you a false witness.
Stephen was STONED TO DEATH while preaching Jesus—died without seeing the mass conversions or church growth he prayed for. Yet his death produced Saul/Paul's conversion, who wrote half the New Testament. Stephen's 'failed' death produced exponential fruit he never saw.
I REFUSE the lie that my family's faith depends on my visible breakthrough. IT IS WRITTEN that the faithful died without receiving the promises yet obtained a good testimony through faith. My job is not to prove God to my family—He proves Himself. My faithfulness in waiting IS the testimony. Whether I see the promise or die in faith, God is faithful and my family will know it. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed with the BARAK of Abraham, and covenant blessing extends to my household and generations. My faith—not my breakthrough—is the legacy.
The Father isn't putting your family's faith on your shoulders—He's got them. Like Stephen's death produced Paul who changed the world, your faithfulness will produce fruit you may never see. Your family doesn't need your breakthrough to believe; they need your enduring faith. He's got this.
