"If I get money too easily, it will ruin me. Struggle builds character."
How it sounds in your head: Adults always say 'easy come, easy go' and 'you won't appreciate it if you don't earn it.' Maybe God keeps me broke to keep me humble and safe.
"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich."
-- 2 Corinthians 8:9Religious teaching making God the author of lack, twisting hardship into holiness.
He's seen lottery winners crash and heard endless sermons about 'refining fire' and 'suffering builds character.'
Solomon asked only for wisdom to lead well; God was so pleased He gave him wisdom AND unsolicited riches and honor—'such as no kings before or after.' Solomon received instant, massive wealth as a GIFT, not through decades of character-building struggle.
I REFUSE the lie that I need struggle to build character or that ease will ruin me. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ became poor so I could be RICH (2 Cor 8:9)—that's grace, not grinding. God gives FREELY (Rom 8:32), not grudgingly after I've suffered enough. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in my coming in and going out, the Lord commands blessing on my storehouses (Deut 28:6, 8). The prodigal got full restoration in 15 minutes with zero probation. The BARAK blessing wasn't earned by struggle—it prospered Abraham the liar, Isaac the deceiver, Jacob the thief. I receive FREELY because I'm in covenant, not because I've suffered enough to 'deserve' it. My character comes from abiding in the Vine (John 15:5), not from lack.
The Father doesn't withhold to 'build you up'—He freely gives because you're His son, not because you've earned it through pain. Like the prodigal, you get the feast immediately, not after years of proving yourself.
