"If I accept I'll always be in pain, at least I can stop hoping and getting disappointed."
How it sounds in your head: Hope hurts. Every time I believe for healing and wake up still in pain, it breaks something in me. Maybe it's safer to just accept this is my life. Lower my expectations. Stop hoping for something that isn't coming.
"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
-- Romans 5:5Traumatic disappointment creating protective walls against hope, agreement with spirit of resignation.
Repeated hope followed by unchanged circumstances creates genuine emotional pain. Resignation feels like self-protection against further disappointment.
Barren for YEARS, wept bitterly, so broken the priest thought she was drunk. Prayed one more time in desperation, made a vow, then went away and 'her face was no longer sad.' Conceived that year—her hope was rewarded with Samuel the prophet.
I REFUSE the lie that hope leads to disappointment. IT IS WRITTEN that hope does NOT disappoint because God's love is poured out in my heart. Hannah wept in barrenness for years and prayed one more time—her hope was rewarded. Abraham hoped against hope and became father of nations. I choose hope anchored in God's Word over resignation disguised as peace. IT IS WRITTEN that faith is the substance of things hoped for, and I will not surrender my hope to protect myself from disappointment. My hope is in HIM, not in my feelings.
The Father isn't counting your disappointed prayers as failures. Every time you hope, you're partnering with His heart—He's not frustrated by your persistence, He's MOVED by it. Your hope isn't naive, it's righteous, and the moment you stop protecting yourself and risk hoping again, you'll find He was there all along waiting to flood you with the very thing you stopped believing for.
