"If he really knew God, he wouldn't have walked away like this."
How it sounds in your head: He went to every youth event, got baptized, led worship, knew all the right answers. If that was real, how could he abandon it so completely? Maybe it was always fake. Maybe you just THOUGHT he was saved.
"If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself."
-- 2 Timothy 2:13Religious teaching that equates temporary rebellion with false salvation + enemy doubt.
The transformation seems total—from leading worship to mocking Christianity. Real faith should be permanent, so this level of departure feels like proof it was never genuine.
Jonah was a PROPHET who heard God's voice clearly, then RAN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION and told God he'd rather DIE than obey. After God gave him a second chance and Nineveh repented, Jonah got ANGRY at God's mercy and asked to die AGAIN. Still a prophet. Still used by God. Running doesn't erase calling.
I REFUSE the lie that my son never really knew God. IT IS WRITTEN that if we are faithless, HE remains faithful—my son's running doesn't cancel God's grip. IT IS WRITTEN that He who BEGAN a good work will COMPLETE it. Peter DENIED Jesus with curses—still restored. Jonah RAN from God and wished for death—still a prophet. My son's rebellion doesn't erase genuine encounters he had with God. The Father is FAITHFUL even when my son isn't. I stand on Philippians 1:6—God will COMPLETE what He started in my son.
The Father doesn't base His faithfulness on your son's performance—He 'remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.' Your son's running doesn't erase what God started; it just sets up a more dramatic comeback story.
