"I wasted years in sexual sin and now my future marriage will pay for what I gave away."
How it sounds in your head: I didn't wait. I gave my virginity to someone whose last name I barely remember. I have a body count I'm ashamed of. Even if I marry a godly man, our wedding night will be tainted by what I did in those wasted, impure years. I can't un-ring that bell.
"Then He who sat on the throne said, 'Behold, I make all things new.' And He said to me, 'Write, for these words are true and faithful.'"
-- Revelation 21:5Source: Religion's virginity pedestal—the enemy uses past sexual choices to convince you that you're permanently damaged goods who robbed your future spouse.
Purity culture drilled it in: you're a chewed piece of gum, a rose with petals torn off, a gift unwrapped. The metaphors haunt you and the church's silence on grace for sexual sin makes it feel unforgivable.
The Samaritan woman had five husbands and was living with a man she wasn't married to—a sexual history that made her a social outcast. Jesus didn't lecture her or put her on probation. He revealed Himself as Messiah TO HER FIRST and she became the evangelist who brought her whole city to Him.
I REFUSE the lie that sexual sin makes me used goods who will taint my future marriage. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus makes ALL THINGS NEW—including my body, my sexuality, my purity. I am not a chewed piece of gum. I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in Christ Jesus. The blood doesn't just forgive—it RESTORES virginity in God's eyes. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for me. My future marriage bed is HOLY because Jesus's blood makes it so. I am the prodigal getting the robe of PURITY right now, not after years of proving myself.
The Father doesn't see a body count—He sees a daughter washed white as snow, PURE as the day she was born. He's not disappointed in your past; He's DELIGHTED in your present. Your future husband gets a PURE bride because Jesus makes ALL things new.
