"I wasted my opportunity. God gave me a chance and I blew it, so He won't give me another."
How it sounds in your head: I prayed before I invested and felt like God was giving me a chance to be different than my family. But I lost it all. He gave me one shot and I missed. Why would He give me another chance when I wasted the first one?
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religious lie that God operates on 'three strikes' or limited chances, as if grace has a quota.
She's at the age where authority figures give 'one more chance' warnings at school, so she projects that onto God. She believes grace is rationed and she used hers up.
He ran from God's assignment, got swallowed by a fish, and disobeyed spectacularly. God's response? 'Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah a SECOND time.' Instant second chance. Same assignment. No punishment phase.
I REFUSE the lie that God's chances run out. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are NEW EVERY MORNING—not 'new when I perform well' but NEW because that's WHO HE IS. I didn't waste my opportunity because God's plans for me cannot be stopped by one mistake. IT IS WRITTEN that He who began a good work in me will COMPLETE it. I am covered by the BARAK blessing that protected Jacob even when he DECEIVED his own father. My God gives second, third, and seventy-times-seven chances because His grace has no quota. I declare supernatural open doors and FRESH OPPORTUNITIES flooding my life right now.
Your Father isn't counting your strikes. He's not even keeping score. While you're crying over the 'wasted chance,' He's already preparing the next door, and it's bigger than the first one because He's showing off His faithfulness to a watching world.
