"I wasted my best years and now it's too late to receive God's promises."
How it sounds in your head: I'm seventy-six and just now learning about grace. Where was this teaching when I was thirty? I spent fifty years in legalism, striving, earning. I missed the abundant life Jesus promised. My window has closed.
"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you."
-- Joel 2:25Source: The enemy uses time as a weapon, convincing you that God's promises have expiration dates and that lateness disqualifies you from blessing.
You look back at decades of religious performance and feel robbed—so many years spent in bondage when freedom was available. Friends your age are dying, and you wonder if you've run out of runway for breakthrough.
This man lived his entire life as a criminal—wasted every year in sin, ending up crucified for his crimes. In the LAST MINUTES of his life, with zero time left to serve God or prove himself, Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Instant, complete salvation with no years to give back.
I REFUSE the lie that I've wasted time or missed God's window. IT IS WRITTEN that God restores the YEARS the locust has eaten—not just days, but DECADES returned in a moment. I have not missed my promises—they're not time-sensitive, they're BLOOD-bought. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus gives ABUNDANT LIFE—present tense, right now, at seventy-six years old. I stand in the BARAK blessing that has NO retirement age. Abraham received Isaac at one hundred, Sarah at ninety. Moses got his greatest assignment at eighty. My best years are NOT behind me—they're unfolding NOW because I'm connected to the Vine who never ages.
The Father is handing you the fattened calf TODAY, not punishing you for the years you spent in the far country of religion. He's been preparing this feast the whole time, and He's more excited about the years AHEAD than grieved about the years behind.
