"I wasn't born into a wealthy family, so blessing was never available to me."

How it sounds in your head: Some people are born blessed—wealthy families, connections, opportunities. I was born with nothing. You can't inherit what your family never had. The starting line determined the finish line, and I started poor.

Enemy whispers: Born poor, stay poor—family determines destiny. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 1 Peter 1:3-4—'Begotten us AGAIN to an inheritance.' You were born a SECOND TIME—born again into a NEW FAMILY with a NEW inheritance. Your earthly family's poverty doesn't touch your heavenly family's wealth. You're Abraham's seed now (Galatians 3:29), and Abraham started with NOTHING—God called him out of paganism and made him wealthy. Ruth was a PAGAN FOREIGNER, dirt poor, widowed, gleaning scraps—she ended up in the MESSIANIC line, great-grandmother to King David. Birth circumstances are IRRELEVANT when you're born again.

Why this feels true:

The evidence is ninety-plus years long—he's watched people born into wealth stay wealthy while he scraped by. The 'born on third base' people seem to prove that blessing is genetic, not grace.

Ruth

Moabite woman (foreign pagan), widowed, poverty-stricken, gleaning leftover grain just to survive—lowest social status imaginable. Through one encounter with Boaz (kinsman-redeemer), she went from scraps to ABUNDANCE, from foreigner to family, from poverty to the bloodline of KINGS—great-grandmother to David, direct line to Jesus.
