"I slept with my boyfriend, so God won't bring me a godly husband now."
How it sounds in your head: I gave away what I was supposed to save. I see girls who stayed pure getting engaged to amazing men, and I'm sitting here knowing I already failed the test. Maybe God will give me someone, but not His best. I settled for less, so now I get less.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you."
-- Joel 2:25Source: Purity culture teaching that presents virginity as currency and God's blessing as reward for performance.
She watches engagement announcements from girls who 'did it right' and feels like she's shopping in the clearance section now. The shame whispers that God's best is reserved for those who didn't mess up.
This woman had five husbands and was living with a man who wasn't her husband—a sexual and relational train wreck by anyone's standards. Jesus didn't lecture her about purity culture or make her wait to prove herself. He revealed Himself as Messiah TO HER FIRST, and she became the evangelist to her entire city THAT SAME DAY.
I REFUSE the lie that my sexual past disqualified me from God's best. IT IS WRITTEN that He restores what the locust has eaten—not with scraps, but with ABUNDANCE. I am not shopping in the clearance section of God's blessing. I am Abraham's seed, heir according to the PROMISE, and the BARAK blessing doesn't operate on my performance—it operates on HIS COVENANT. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. I am the righteousness of God, not because I stayed pure, but because HE IS PURE and I am in Him. God's best for my life isn't on hold. It's on the way.
The Father isn't comparing you to the girl who stayed a virgin—He's celebrating that you came HOME. The woman at the well had five failed marriages and Jesus made her the first evangelist. You think He's withholding a good husband because of your past? He's preparing someone who will love you like Christ loved the church—scandal, past, and all.
