"I sinned against my body and now I'll pay for it with sickness."
How it sounds in your head: The eating disorder. The abortion. The sexual choices. My body is broken because I broke it. This disease is my consequence.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Religious karma teaching that reads Old Testament punishment narratives as New Covenant realities, making God the enforcer of disease as payment.
There's a timeline connection—you made certain choices and now you face certain health issues, so causation feels obvious. The shame makes you believe sickness is justice, not attack.
She'd had a bleeding disorder for twelve years—had spent all her money on doctors who made her worse, was ceremonially unclean and socially isolated. Jesus didn't ask about her past or what caused it—she touched His garment and was IMMEDIATELY healed, and He called her 'daughter.' No interrogation, instant healing.
I REFUSE the lie that my sickness is God's punishment. IT IS WRITTEN that the chastisement for my peace was upon JESUS, and by His stripes I AM healed—present tense. Christ redeemed me from the curse of the law, which includes disease. IT IS WRITTEN that He bore my sicknesses and carried my pains. I will not accept sickness as payment when Jesus already paid in full. The BARAK blessing includes health—'the Lord will take away from you all sickness' was promised to Israel, and I'm grafted into that covenant. I receive healing NOW, not as reward but as inheritance.
The Father isn't using sickness to teach you a lesson or punish past choices—He already punished those choices by laying them on Jesus. He's not withholding healing until you've suffered enough; He's offering it freely because Jesus suffered completely.
