"I should restrict food since I can barely move—eating feels like pointless indulgence now."
How it sounds in your head: You're bedridden. Not burning calories. Eating seems wasteful, unnecessary. Why bother when your body isn't doing anything? Food feels like indulgence you haven't earned. Maybe you should just... skip it.
"Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
-- Matthew 6:26Performance-based earning mentality applied to basic provision, making sustenance conditional on productivity instead of covenant.
Logic says calories match activity—you're not active, so why consume? The bed scale confirms you're not using the energy. Eating feels excessive when you're just... lying here.
Thirty-eight YEARS an invalid, completely immobile, unable to work or contribute. Jesus didn't say, 'You haven't earned healing by being productive.' He said, 'RISE, take up your bed and walk.' Healing came BEFORE productivity, provision BEFORE performance.
I REFUSE the lie that I must earn food through activity or productivity. IT IS WRITTEN that God feeds the birds who don't sow or reap—and I am of MORE value than they. My Father provides because He's a FATHER, not because I've performed. IT IS WRITTEN that the BARAK blessing is mine by covenant through Christ—provision flows from HIS faithfulness, not my mobility. I receive every meal as GIFT, not wage. God fed Elijah by ravens when he was hiding in a cave doing NOTHING. He'll feed me while I'm healing in this bed. I EAT because I'm LOVED, not because I've earned it.
The Father doesn't calculate your calorie needs against your output. He sees a son who needs nourishment and delights in providing it. He fed you in the womb when you did NOTHING but grow—He's still that same Father NOW.
