"I should just be grateful for what I have and stop wanting more."
How it sounds in your head: Every time I want something better, I feel ungrateful. I should be happy with enough. Maybe my dissatisfaction proves I'm spoiled or entitled. Godly women are supposed to be content, not always wanting upgrades.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Source: Religious teaching that twisted contentment into settling, making her believe that desire for increase equals ingratitude and spiritual immaturity.
She's been told that 'godliness with contentment is great gain' so many times it feels like wanting anything more is sinful. Every desire for improvement gets labeled as complaining or lacking faith.
Solomon asked for wisdom, and God said 'Because you asked for this and NOT for riches, I'm giving you wisdom AND riches AND honor—more than any king before or after you.' God gave him what he asked for PLUS what he didn't ask for because God loves EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY.
I REFUSE the lie that wanting more means I'm ungrateful or immature. IT IS WRITTEN that God is able to do EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY above all I ask or think—which means my biggest dreams are TOO SMALL for Him. Contentment doesn't mean settling—it means trusting Him while desiring increase. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing is multiplication, not stagnation. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. I desire more not from greed but from FAITH in a God whose nature is ABUNDANCE.
The Father isn't irritated by your desires for more—He PLANTED them. He's not a minimalist God who wants you grateful for crumbs. He's the Father who killed the FATTENED calf for the prodigal, who gave him MORE than he had before he left, just because He's a LAVISH Father.
