"I should have seen the layoff coming and prepared better."
How it sounds in your head: There were signs—the budget cuts, the meetings I wasn't included in. I was naive and now I'm paying for it. If I'd been smarter, I wouldn't be in this mess.
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
-- Romans 8:28Religion: Hindsight-as-sin teaching that makes you responsible for things you couldn't control, breeding false guilt.
She's replaying every moment, seeing 'clues' she thinks she should have caught. The layoff feels like a test she failed, and the financial consequences feel like punishment for not being vigilant enough.
Betrayed by brothers, sold as a slave, falsely accused, imprisoned for YEARS—didn't see any of it coming. But God used every 'disaster' to position him as second-in-command of Egypt, and Joseph said 'You meant evil, but God meant it for good.'
I REFUSE the lie that I should have predicted this layoff. IT IS WRITTEN that all things work together for good for those who love God, and this includes things I didn't see coming. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK covered him when he made TERRIBLE decisions and lied repeatedly—it certainly covers me in a layoff. IT IS WRITTEN that no weapon formed against me prospers, and unemployment is a weapon that FAILS. The Father is RUNNING toward me with the position I couldn't have accessed without this sudden exit.
The Father isn't disappointed you didn't see it coming—He's EXCITED about where He's taking you next. Like Joseph, what looks like betrayal is actually positioning, and you're about to see that this layoff was the EXIT RAMP to something far better than what you left.
