"I should have prayed more, witnessed more, done more for God all these years."
How it sounds in your head: You had 80+ years and what do you have to show for it? How many people did you lead to Christ? How many hours in prayer? Other women your age have ministry legacies. You just lived an ordinary life.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
-- Ephesians 2:8-9Performance Christianity teaching that measures God's pleasure by your spiritual resume and activity metrics.
She looks back and sees no dramatic conversions, no Bible studies led, no mission trips. Just decades of ordinary days that feel spiritually insignificant compared to what the pulpit celebrates.
This man had zero ministry, zero prayer life, zero Bible knowledge, zero changed behavior. He simply turned to Jesus in his final hours and said 'remember me.' Jesus' response? 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' No probation, no works requirement, instant full acceptance.
I REFUSE the lie that God's love depends on my spiritual performance or ministry metrics. IT IS WRITTEN that salvation is by grace through faith, NOT OF WORKS. I am not saved by what I've done but by what CHRIST has done. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ—not 'less condemnation' or 'condemnation for lack of ministry'—NONE. The BARAK blessing wasn't based on Abraham's performance; he lied twice and God still defended him. I stand in a BETTER covenant. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, fully accepted, fully loved, fully His. My value is in my IDENTITY, not my activity.
The Father isn't reviewing your spiritual resume with disappointment. He's looking at you the way He looked at the thief on the cross—with total acceptance and love, inviting you to Paradise not because you earned it but because He delights in giving it to those who simply receive.
