"I should have prayed more, read my Bible more. My spiritual life was too shallow."
How it sounds in your head: You think of all the Bible reading plans you abandoned, prayers you rushed through, quiet times you skipped. Others had deep devotional lives; yours felt shallow and inconsistent. Now at the end, you wonder if you even really knew God or just knew about Him.
"Then they said to Him, 'What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?' Jesus answered and said to them, 'This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.'"
-- John 6:28-29Religion measures relationship by spiritual disciplines, making intimacy with God a performance evaluation.
You can count the spiritual activities you didn't do—the consistency you lacked, the depth you never achieved. Other women seem to have rich prayer lives and biblical knowledge you never attained.
Zero Bible reading (didn't exist yet), zero prayer life history, zero spiritual disciplines—just one desperate prayer in his final moments. Jesus' response: 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Full acceptance, instant qualification, complete salvation.
I REFUSE the lie that my relationship with God is measured by spiritual activities or that I needed more disciplines to qualify. IT IS WRITTEN that the ONLY work God requires is believing in Jesus—not reading plans, not prayer hours, just FAITH. My acceptance isn't based on devotional performance. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief had zero spiritual resume and received instant Paradise—full qualification with one prayer. Eternal life IS knowing Jesus, and I KNOW Him. I am complete in Christ, accepted in the Beloved, righteous by His blood. My intimacy with God is covenant reality, not earned depth. The Father delights in me NOW.
The Father doesn't audit your devotional history before welcoming you into intimacy—He sees the blood that qualifies you completely. Like the thief who had zero spiritual disciplines yet received full acceptance, you're known and loved based on Jesus, not your quiet time consistency.
