"I should have listened to the warnings and now I'm paying for my pride."
How it sounds in your head: People told me it wouldn't work and I was too stubborn to listen. This is what I get for thinking I knew better. Pride comes before a fall and I'm proof.
"Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established."
-- Proverbs 16:3Source: religious condemnation using Proverbs out of context to shame risk-taking and entrepreneurial vision as 'pride' rather than faith.
She can remember specific warnings she dismissed and the failure seems to validate those warnings. The apparent wisdom of caution versus the folly of her risk feels undeniable in hindsight.
Built a massive ark on dry land while everyone mocked and warned him he was crazy. Ignored all the 'wise counsel' saying he was wasting time and resources. Turned out he was the only one who heard God right and saved the human race. Faith often looks like foolishness to those without the same vision.
I REFUSE the lie that this failure is punishment for my pride. IT IS WRITTEN that when I commit my works to the Lord, my thoughts are established - and I committed this to Him. Faith that steps out despite doubters isn't pride, it's trust. My Father doesn't punish faith steps even when they don't produce immediate results. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God in Christ, justified by faith not works, and my right-standing doesn't change based on business outcomes. This isn't punishment - it's redirection. My Father is already establishing my next steps and He's not shaming me for the last ones.
Your Father isn't saying 'I told you so' - He's saying 'I'm proud you trusted Me enough to risk.' Like Noah who ignored every warning and was vindicated, your faith step wasn't foolishness even if the outcome wasn't what you expected. He wastes nothing and He's already preparing your vindication.
