"I should feel guilty enjoying luxury when I see poverty and suffering around me."
How it sounds in your head: Every time you think about upgrading, traveling first class, or buying something nice, you picture starving kids and homeless vets. How can you enjoy steak when others eat from dumpsters? That new truck feels obscene when your neighbor lost his pension. Good men don't flaunt wealth while others suffer.
"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy."
-- 1 Timothy 6:17Religion's poverty gospel teaches that enjoying God's provision equals indifference to suffering, making abundance feel morally wrong instead of covenant right.
You were raised that real men sacrifice, go without, and never show off. The news constantly shows you suffering that makes your blessings feel inappropriate. Every financial decision now carries the weight of comparison - wondering if enjoying God's goodness makes you one of the blind rich who ignore the poor.
After suffering, the LORD blessed Job's latter days MORE than his beginning - 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, 1,000 female donkeys. God didn't give Job just enough to scrape by or tell him to feel guilty about abundance. He gave him DOUBLE, and Job received it without apology as covenant blessing restored.
I REFUSE the lie that enjoying God's provision equals moral failure. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives us richly ALL THINGS TO ENJOY - not to hoard with guilt, but to ENJOY. I will not apologize for my Father's generosity or shrink back from His abundance as if it's shameful. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, blessed in the city and field, and the LORD commands blessing on my storehouses. I am Abraham's seed by covenant, blessed with the barak that made him extremely wealthy - and God called it good. I receive luxurious provision without guilt as inheritance from a Father who runs toward me with the robe, ring, and fattened calf.
Your Father didn't give the prodigal rice and beans and a lecture about waste - He threw a PARTY with the fattened calf He'd been saving. He doesn't want you eating guilt with every blessing. He wants you enjoying richly ALL things He provides, receiving with the delight of a son who knows his Father loves extravagant generosity.
