"I push people away. I ruin every friendship I start."
How it sounds in your head: You can trace the pattern. Things are going well, then you say something wrong, get too clingy, too distant, too intense. The friendship cools and you blame yourself. You must be doing something to make people leave, so maybe it's safer not to try.
"There is therefore now NO condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
-- Romans 8:1Enemy twisting natural relational growing pains into evidence of personal toxicity, keeping you isolated through false guilt.
You've replayed conversations where you think you overshared, came on too strong, or misread signals. The common factor in all these failed friendships is YOU, so logic says you're the problem.
Peter DENIED Jesus three times, cursed, swore he didn't know Him, and ran away when Jesus needed him most - the ultimate friendship betrayal. Jesus didn't exile him or make him prove himself. He cooked Peter BREAKFAST on the beach, restored him with three questions, and made him the leader of the early church.
I REFUSE the lie that I push people away or ruin friendships. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation to those in Christ Jesus - I'm not toxic, I'm LEARNING. Even Peter denied Jesus three times and got breakfast and restoration, not rejection. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 1:6 that God is completing the good work He started in me - I'm not a finished product, and neither is anyone else. I am Abraham's seed, blessed by COVENANT not behavior. The BARAK protected Jacob the deceiver and his murderous sons - my awkward moments don't cancel God's favor on my life. The right friendships will have GRACE for my growth because they're growing too.
Your Father doesn't see you as a friendship disaster - He sees you as His beloved child learning to connect. He's running toward you with people who'll stick through the awkward phases because they see the GOLD He put in you.
