"I preached grace but lived by works and now I'm paying the price with this misery."
How it sounds in your head: You told them about rest but never rested. Preached grace but drove yourself into the ground trying to earn God's approval. This pain, this helplessness, this dying process—it's the bill come due. You're a hypocrite reaping what you sowed.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."
-- Romans 8:1Religious guilt weaponizing sowing/reaping; the accuser using past striving as proof of present punishment.
You can see the contradiction now—you proclaimed Sabbath but never took one. You counseled balance but worked yourself sick. The physical breakdown feels like karmic justice. Every sermon on grace feels like a lie when you lived under law.
Peter denied Jesus THREE times, ran away, went back to fishing like the call never happened. Jesus didn't bring punishment—He brought BREAKFAST on the beach. Then He restored Peter with the SAME number of questions as denials and said 'Feed My sheep.' From denier to shepherd in one conversation.
I REFUSE the lie that my striving disqualified the grace I preached. IT IS WRITTEN: There is NOW no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—not 'no condemnation if you were consistent.' I am not reaping punishment; I am ENTERING the rest I preached but couldn't access. My hypocrisy doesn't nullify His BLOOD. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:13 that Christ REDEEMED me from the curse—including the curse of my own works-driven ministry. The BARAK covers LIARS like Abraham, DENIERS like Peter, and STRIVERS like me. I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST, not in my consistency.
The Father isn't saying 'I told you so'—He's saying 'Finally, son, you're letting Me carry you.' Every sermon you preached on grace was TRUE even when you couldn't receive it. Now, in this bed, unable to perform, you're finally LIVING the message. He's been waiting for this—not the pain, but the SURRENDER.
