"I pour into people and they don't even remember I exist until they need something."
How it sounds in your head: You're the emotional support friend, the crisis hotline, the free therapist—but when life is good, your phone is silent. You give and give, and they take and disappear. You're a resource, not a relationship. Utility, not priority.
"But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil."
-- Luke 6:35Enemy twist making you measure worth by reciprocity, turning generosity into scorekeeping and relationships into transactions.
Your text history proves it: pages of you checking in, them venting, you encouraging—then silence until the next crisis. You're the shoulder they cry on, not the friend they celebrate with. When you need support, suddenly everyone's busy. The scales are obviously unbalanced.
The Shunammite woman served Elisha repeatedly, made him a room, fed him, expected nothing back—said 'I dwell among my own people,' wanting no reward. God gave her the impossible: a son in her old age, within the year. Hidden generosity IMMEDIATELY rewarded.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm being used or that my generosity is wasted on ungrateful people. IT IS WRITTEN that my reward will be GREAT when I give expecting nothing in return—my reward comes from God, not people. I pour from Heaven's endless supply, not my own limited tank. I walk in the BARAK blessing where I lend to many and borrow from none. IT IS WRITTEN that God is not unjust to forget my labor of love. Every unreturned kindness is recorded in Heaven, and my reward is coming from the Father who never forgets and always repays ABUNDANTLY.
The Father isn't waiting for you to balance the relational ledger before He rewards you—He's already seen every one-sided conversation, every unreciprocated kindness, and He's preparing rewards so lavish they'll make human gratitude look like crumbs. You give from His supply, and He Himself is your exceeding great reward.
