"I need to read my Bible more and pray longer for God to love me"
How it sounds in your head: Other girls my age seem so good at devotions. They post about it online and their prayers sound so pretty. I feel guilty when I forget to read my Bible. Maybe that's why God feels far away.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
-- Ephesians 2:8-9Religion whispers that quiet times are the ENTRANCE FEE to God's presence, not the result of already being loved.
She sees other Christian girls posting aesthetic Bible study photos and perfect prayer journals. When she doesn't do the same, shame floods in and God feels distant, so she assumes the distance is her fault.
A dying criminal with zero Bible reading, zero prayer time, and a lifetime of crime simply said 'remember me' and Jesus INSTANTLY promised him paradise. No devotional plan required, just one moment of trust.
I REFUSE the lie that my Bible reading earns God's affection. IT IS WRITTEN that salvation is a GIFT, not wages for spiritual performance. I am not saved by how many chapters I read or how long I pray. I am His BELOVED DAUGHTER because of Jesus' blood, not my quiet time. IT IS WRITTEN that there is no condemnation for those in Christ, so I will not carry guilt over missed devotions. I read because I'm loved, not to GET loved. The BARAK blessing is mine by covenant, not by how aesthetic my Bible journaling looks.
The Father isn't checking your Bible app streak or grading your prayers. He's already running toward you with the robe and ring, delighted just because you're HIS, before you open a single page.
