"I need to lower my standards or I'll be single forever with expectations this high."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe I'm being too picky. Everyone tells me to be realistic and compromise—nobody gets everything they want. If I keep holding out for what I actually desire, I'll end up alone. Better to settle for good enough than wait forever.
"Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."
-- Psalm 37:4Scarcity mindset from the world that says godly desire is unrealistic and settling is wisdom.
You've been single long enough that people keep suggesting you're too picky, and the longer you wait, the more it seems like maybe they're right. Compromise starts sounding like maturity rather than settling.
Abraham wanted a son for twenty-five years and was told to settle for Ishmael as 'good enough.' God said no—wait for Isaac, the PROMISED one. The wait was long, but God gave them exactly what He promised, better than the compromise, even when it looked impossible.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to lower my standards or settle to avoid being alone. IT IS WRITTEN that my Father gives me the desires of my heart, not the compromises. The godly desires I have came FROM Him, and He's not asking me to betray them. IT IS WRITTEN that He does exceedingly abundantly above all I ask or imagine—He doesn't operate in scarcity or settling. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing doesn't give me 'good enough'—it gives me the PROMISE that's better than the compromise. My Father is not running out of options or patience. He's orchestrating something that exceeds what I'm hoping for, and I will not settle for less than His best because people tell me I'm taking too long.
Your Father isn't frustrated with your standards wishing you'd just settle already. He's the God who told Abraham to wait twenty-five years for the PROMISE instead of settling for Ishmael. He's not bringing you 'good enough'—He's bringing you the one He's been preparing that exceeds what you're imagining.
