"I need to hurry and make peace with God before I run out of time."
How it sounds in your head: I can feel death approaching. I need to confess every sin, make sure everything is right, pray harder, read more, do whatever it takes before the window closes. What if I die with unconfessed sin?
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religion replaces finished work with frantic effort, turning deathbed into courtroom where you scramble for last-minute acquittal.
Death's proximity triggers every religious teaching about judgment and works. She fears dying 'not ready' - as if relationship with God is a test she might fail at the last second.
Criminal dying for actual crimes, zero time to clean up his life, no baptism, no communion, no process. Simply said 'remember me' and Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in paradise' - instant salvation with zero works or waiting period.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to earn peace with God before I die. IT IS WRITTEN that He has already forgiven ALL trespasses and wiped out every requirement against me. The thief got paradise in one dying breath with zero works. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. I am righteous by GIFT not achievement. Peace was made at the cross, not in my performance. I declare I am ALREADY reconciled, ALREADY accepted, ALREADY His beloved. Death is not judgment day - it's GRADUATION day.
The Father already made peace at Calvary - you're not making it, you're RECEIVING it. He's throwing your welcome-home party RIGHT NOW, fattened calf already cooking, ring already sized for your finger. You can't be more ready than Christ's blood makes you.
