"I need to have my mental health together before I can have healthy relationships"
How it sounds in your head: How can I date or build deep friendships when I can barely manage myself? I'll just be a burden. I need to fix this first, get stable, prove I'm not a mess before I let anyone close. No one wants to deal with my crazy.
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up."
-- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10World's teaching that you must be whole to be worthy of love, making isolation feel like responsibility.
She's seen relationship advice about not dating until you're healed and heard people complain about 'baggage.' Her mental health feels like unfair weight to put on anyone else.
Naomi was bitter, depressed, and told Ruth to leave her. Ruth REFUSED to leave her in her brokenness, saying 'Where you go, I will go.' Ruth committed to Naomi at her lowest, not after she healed.
I REFUSE the lie that I must be mentally stable before I deserve relationships. IT IS WRITTEN that two are better than one because when one falls, the other lifts them up. My mental health struggle is a burden to SHARE, not hide. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in my relationships, blessed in community, blessed in connection under the BARAK covenant. I don't have to be fixed to be loved. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, worthy of deep relationships RIGHT NOW.
The Father isn't waiting for you to stop struggling before He brings people into your life. He's already positioning someone to say 'where you go, I will go,' mess and all.
