"I need to fix my diet, sleep, and stress before I can have energy."
How it sounds in your head: If I could just meal prep better, get eight hours, reduce my stress, THEN maybe I'd feel better. But life is chaotic and those things feel impossible, so I'm stuck in exhaustion until I can get my life together. I need to earn energy through perfect habits.
"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
-- Acts 3:19Performance religion says God's blessing comes AFTER you've optimized your behavior and proven your discipline.
Every health article and well-meaning friend says the same thing—fix your habits first. The logic seems sound and her exhaustion feels like consequence of imperfect living.
Mephibosheth was crippled, hiding in a forgotten place, unable to fix himself or prove his worth. David brought him to the palace based on COVENANT with Jonathan, gave him everything instantly—he didn't have to heal first, prove first, or earn first. Covenant came FIRST.
I REFUSE the lie that I must fix myself before God will energize me. IT IS WRITTEN that times of refreshing come from the PRESENCE of the Lord—not from perfect habits, from HIS PRESENCE. I receive energy as a GIFT, not an achievement. I am under the BARAK blessing by covenant, not behavior—it protected Abraham when he LIED, Jacob when he DECEIVED, and murderers in Genesis 35. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 5:8 that while I was STILL a sinner, Christ died for me. He doesn't wait for me to optimize—He gives WHILE I'm weak. His grace is sufficient NOW. Supernatural vitality flows from the Vine, and I simply ABIDE.
Father sees you trying to earn what He's already given and runs toward you like He did to the prodigal—no cleanup required, no proving period, full restoration while you still smell like pigs. Energy is GIFT, not achievement.
