"I need to fast more or pray harder to break through spiritual resistance."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe there's a demon blocking my prayers and I need to level up my spiritual warfare. That verse about 'this kind comes out only by prayer and fasting'—maybe I haven't paid the price. Maybe I need to go on a 21-day fast like Daniel.
"Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it."
-- Colossians 2:15Religious teaching that makes breakthrough about your spiritual intensity rather than Christ's finished victory over all principalities and powers.
He's read books about spiritual warfare and 'levels' of demonic resistance. He sees fasting as the nuclear option that forces God's hand or breaks the devil's grip. It feels more spiritual to suffer than to simply receive.
The centurion's servant was paralyzed and suffering terribly. No fasting. No all-night prayer vigil. Just one request to Jesus, who spoke a word, and the servant was healed THAT SAME HOUR. Authority, not intensity. One word from Jesus demolished whatever was afflicting that servant.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to fast or pray harder to earn breakthrough. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus already disarmed principalities and powers and triumphed over them—Colossians 2:15. I have authority over ALL the power of the enemy—Luke 10:19. IT IS WRITTEN: I am seated with Christ in heavenly places, FAR ABOVE all principalities and powers—Ephesians 1:20-21. My authority is positional, not earned through spiritual intensity. The BARAK protected Abraham without a single fast—just covenant. I don't break through by effort; I enforce what's already broken through the cross.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to suffer enough through fasting to twist His arm. Jesus already paid the price—your breakthrough was purchased 2,000 years ago. Just receive what's already yours.
