"I need to be spiritually perfect before God will trust me with a child."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe you're not ready. You still struggle with anger, impatience, doubt, anxiety. What if you're not healed enough, mature enough, stable enough to be trusted with a child? Perhaps God is withholding until you've proven you can be a good mother. You need to fix yourself first.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Religion teaching that God's gifts are conditional upon spiritual maturity and flawless character.
You see your own flaws clearly and wonder if God does too. The enemy uses every struggle as evidence that you're not qualified yet, and church culture often implies that blessing follows perfection.
He lied to his father, stole his brother's blessing through deception, yet God gave him twelve sons who became the twelve tribes of Israel. His character flaws didn't disqualify him from fruitfulness because blessing is based on covenant, not conduct.
I REFUSE the lie that I must be perfect before receiving a child. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was still a sinner, Christ died for me—giving His best while I was at my worst. Children are a GIFT, not a reward for spiritual maturity. IT IS WRITTEN that His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in weakness. My flaws don't disqualify me; His blood qualifies me. God gave Abraham a son while he was lying, Jacob twelve sons while he was deceiving. I receive this gift not because I'm perfect but because He is faithful. My womb is under grace, not probation.
The Father is running toward you with a baby already named and purposed, not a report card of your spiritual progress. He's not waiting for you to become perfect or prove you're ready—He's placing a child in your arms while you're still working through your issues, trusting you with His gift before you trust yourself.
