"I need to accept this as God's will and stop hoping for biological children."
How it sounds in your head: Hope has become torture. Every month is a cycle of expectation and crushing disappointment. Maybe the spiritual thing is to surrender this desire, to 'accept God's plan,' to stop wanting what He apparently doesn't want to give. Maybe clinging to this hope is actually pride or lack of faith in His sovereignty.
"Who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, 'So shall your descendants be.'"
-- Romans 4:18Religion repackages hopelessness as spiritual maturity, calling surrender to the promise 'acceptance of God's will' when Scripture never models giving up on covenant promises.
The emotional exhaustion of repeated disappointment makes numbness feel like peace. You're in a stage where you're supposed to have answers and direction, and redefining this as 'not God's will' gives you a narrative that stops the monthly grief cycle.
After decades of barrenness and social disgrace ('the LORD has taken away my reproach'), Elizabeth conceived John the Baptist in old age—not because she finally 'accepted God's will to be childless,' but because 'nothing is impossible with God' (v37). Instant conception when both she and Zechariah were 'well advanced in years.'
I REFUSE the lie that hope is torture and surrender is spiritual. IT IS WRITTEN: Abraham 'contrary to hope, in hope believed'—he didn't surrender the promise; he warred for it with faith. Dead circumstances are not God's final word. IT IS WRITTEN in Proverbs 13:12 that 'hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.' God didn't give me this desire to torture me—He gave it as a preview of what He's already decided to do. I choose hope that believes God over hope that believes circumstances.
The Father isn't asking you to kill this desire—He put it there. He's not waiting for you to 'get over it' so He can bless you with something else. He's the God who gave Sarah a baby at ninety specifically because the desire had been there so long that only a miracle could satisfy it, and He loves doing the impossible for those who refuse to stop believing His promises.
