"I need more sleep, more rest, more downtime—then I'll have energy."
How it sounds in your head: If I could just get away for a week. If I could just sleep in. If I could just clear my schedule. I keep trying to rest my way out of this exhaustion, but the fatigue never lifts. Maybe I need even MORE rest.
"He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength."
-- Isaiah 40:29Natural solution to supernatural problem—seeking physical remedy for spiritual energy deficit disconnected from Source.
Rest does provide temporary relief, creating illusion that more rest equals solution. Culture validates self-care and boundaries as the answer.
Elijah was so exhausted he asked to die, then slept under a tree. An angel woke him with food, he ate and slept again. Then the angel woke him a second time, and the food gave him strength to travel FORTY DAYS AND FORTY NIGHTS without eating again—one supernatural meal sustained him for a journey that should have required dozens.
I REFUSE the lie that rest is my source of energy. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives POWER to the weak and INCREASES strength to those who have no might. I don't rest my way to vitality—I ABIDE my way to fruitfulness. Jesus is the Vine; I am the branch. Apart from Him I can do nothing, but IN Him, life flows AUTOMATICALLY. IT IS WRITTEN that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word from the mouth of God—and I am nourished by CONNECTION, not just calories or sleep. The BARAK blessing flows through me as I stay attached to the Source.
The Father isn't waiting for you to finally rest enough—He's running toward you with supernatural sustenance, one touch of which can energize you for forty days of journey. He gives strength that defies natural equations of rest and recovery.
