"I must have unconfessed sin. That's why the pain won't leave and healing won't come."
How it sounds in your head: You've examined your life, confessed everything you can think of, asked God to reveal hidden sin. Still hurts. Maybe there's something you're missing, some unforgiveness you haven't identified, some secret sin blocking your healing. The pain feels like evidence of spiritual failure.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you ALL trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religious system making healing contingent on perfect confession and sin-free performance, contradicting grace.
Pastors have suggested you search your heart. You've heard teachings about 'roots of bitterness' causing sickness. The continued pain seems to confirm something is spiritually wrong with you.
Four friends lowered a paralyzed man through a roof to Jesus. Jesus FIRST said 'Your sins are forgiven,' THEN said 'Rise, take up your bed and walk.' He proved forgiveness was COMPLETE by giving IMMEDIATE healing—forgiveness and healing both flow from the SAME grace, not your performance.
I REFUSE the lie that hidden sin blocks my healing. IT IS WRITTEN that God has forgiven me ALL trespasses and wiped out every requirement against me, nailing it to the cross. The blood of Jesus cleanses me from ALL sin—not just what I remember, ALL. Jesus told the paralyzed man 'Your sins ARE forgiven' before commanding him to walk, proving healing flows from FINISHED forgiveness. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 there is NO condemnation for those in Christ—not 'less condemnation' or 'condemnation when you mess up,' NONE. I stand under the BARAK blessing that covered Abraham when he LIED, Isaac when he DECEIVED, Jacob when he SCHEMED. If the blessing covered their KNOWN sin, how much more does Jesus' blood cover mine?
Your Father isn't playing hide-and-seek with your healing, waiting for you to find the magic sin to confess. He's running toward you with the robe, having already dealt with EVERY sin at the cross. The prodigal didn't need to confess every sin in the pig pen—the father interrupted his confession with a robe, ring, and party.
