"I must have done something wrong; God is punishing me with unemployment."
How it sounds in your head: Good Christians don't lose jobs. If you were right with God, this wouldn't have happened. He's trying to teach you something through suffering. You need to figure out what sin caused this and fix it.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
-- Romans 8:1Religion—teaching that hardship equals divine punishment or correction.
Preachers say God disciplines those He loves. Your sin history replays in your head. It feels like cosmic karma catching up.
Disciples asked whose sin caused his blindness—his or his parents. Jesus said NEITHER—it happened so God's works could be revealed. Not every hardship is punishment; sometimes it's a setup for God to show off.
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing me with unemployment. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—not less, not sometimes, but NONE. This job loss isn't karma or correction. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:13-14 that every sin was nailed to the cross and the record of debt was canceled. The man born blind wasn't being punished—God was setting up a miracle. My unemployment is a setup, not a punishment. God isn't angry—He's orchestrating.
The Father isn't punishing you—He took all punishment on Jesus so He could run toward you with blessing. This transition isn't about what you did wrong; it's about what He's doing right in your life.
